DEATH OF MALAYSIANS IN IRELAND

When a Malaysian citizen passes away in Ireland, the Consular Section of the Malaysian Embassy should be notified immediately by calling +353-1-6677280. You can also email to dub.konsular@kln.gov.my

Please make an appointment with the Embassy to have the death properly registered. Bring the following documents to the appointment:

  1. Original Malaysian Passport
  2. Original IC
  3. Original Certificate of Death (Please authenticate the Death certificate)

The documents above will be sent back to Malaysia so that the death can be registered with JPN.

The next of kin of Malaysian citizens who passed away in Ireland can also contact the Consular Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Putrajaya for assistance.  Their telephone number is +603-80008000 or +603-88874570 and +603-88892746 (Duty Officer) outside of office hours. You can also email to dutyofficer@kln.gov.my

A Consular Officer will notify the next of kin and will help the family work with a local mortuary to return the remains to Malaysia or to arrange for local burial or cremation. Mortuary and related expenses are the responsibility of the family of the deceased.

Policies and procedures relating to death in Ireland, including those of Malaysian citizens, are governed by Irish law.  Quite frequently an autopsy is required, which can delay the issuance of a death certificate and the release of the remains.  The Embassy cannot influence or speed up these official procedures.
